After receiving a doctoral degree in Composition & Rhetoric from the
University of Mississippi
, I taught rhetoric at
Hampden-Sydney College
in Virginia, then was Writing Center Director at
Moravian College
in Pennsylvania before joining
Rodale Press
in the magazine division as a managing editior then executive editor.
Today I serve as a senior adviser the
University of Maryland University College's
Effective Writing Center.
